Outdoor Tiling in Auckland

Patios, entrances and pool surrounds tiled for grip, drainage and Auckland weather.

Outdoor tiling has to handle everything Auckland’s climate throws at it — rain, sun and constant temperature swings — and stay safe underfoot while it does. Tarara Tiling is a family-owned business led by Marko, a Croatian master tiler with 15 years’ experience, tiling outdoor areas across Auckland to last.

Outdoor Tiling Built for Auckland Weather

Outdoor tiling is a different craft to indoor. Tiles have to be rated for outdoor use, laid on a properly prepared and drained base, and set with the right falls so water runs away rather than pooling. Get any of that wrong and you get lifting tiles, cracked grout or a slippery surface. We tile outdoor areas so they look sharp and stay sound through Auckland winters and summers alike.

Safe Underfoot, Sealed Where It Matters

Outside, grip matters. We help you choose tiles with the right slip rating for wet outdoor areas — around pools, on steps and on entrances — so the finish is safe as well as good-looking. And where an outdoor area sits over living space, a balcony or a deck, waterproofing is critical. As an approved PS3 waterproofing author, we can seal those substrates to the New Zealand Building Code before tiling, so water stays out of the structure below.

Outdoor Tiling FAQs

Do you do outdoor paving?

We specialise in outdoor tiling — porcelain and stone tiles laid on a prepared substrate — rather than laying pavers. If your project needs tiling over a patio, balcony, entrance or pool surround, that’s exactly what we do.

Which tiles are best for outdoor areas in Auckland?

Outdoor-rated porcelain is the most popular choice — it’s tough, low-maintenance and comes in slip-rated finishes. Natural stone is beautiful but needs sealing and the right care. We’ll recommend the best option for your area, exposure and budget.

Will outdoor tiles be slippery when wet?

Not if they’re the right tile. We help you choose a suitable slip rating for wet areas like pool surrounds, steps and entrances, so the surface stays safe underfoot.

Do balconies and decks need waterproofing before tiling?

Yes — any tiled outdoor area over living space needs to be waterproofed to the New Zealand Building Code first. As an approved PS3 author, we can handle that as part of the job.

Is your outdoor tiling guaranteed?

Yes — our work is backed by a workmanship guarantee, we use trusted, outdoor-rated materials, and we’re fully insured.
